Will Apps End the SharePoint Cold War?

The cold war has been waged in silence for years. Developers secretly view administrators as SharePoint tyrants seeking to lock custom code out of their farms. Administrators harbor quiet resentment towards developers because custom code solutions can destabilize farms, kill performance, and increase an administrator’s workload. How did this cold war start, and is there any hope to ending it? In this session, we’ll deconstruct the cold war and look at the history of custom application development in SharePoint. We’ll look at the new SharePoint 2013 App Model, how it works, what it brings to the table, and how its operational approach may actually let administrators and developers smile at one another once again. We’ll also spend some time discussing why the new App Model is so important in SharePoint’s “cloudy future.”

 Community Time for Power Users

Starting this month and going forward, there will be a dedicated time for anyone attending the meeting to ask/answer questions related to any SharePoint feature.

We, at the steering committe feel that there is enough knowledge among all of the attendees that we can help each other by sharing the knowledge.

Our goal is that this time will be use to introduce SharePoint features (tips/tricks), ask questions, answer questions, showcase a technique, etc. by the attendees.

Give us your opinion about this time slot. Or if you would like to be a part of this time, drop us an email at BuckeyeSPUG@live.com.

No vendor topics.
